Canada Notary prepares a detailed sworn affidavit explaining exactly how you bought the vehicle, what you paid, and why you don’t have a bill of sale. You then present it to ServiceOntario so you can register the vehicle in your name and drive it legally in Ontario. We draft it, you swear it with us online or at any of our 18 Ontario offices, and you take it straight to ServiceOntario.
ServiceOntario normally needs a bill of sale, or the purchase price written on the vehicle permit, before it will transfer ownership. If you don’t have one, a sworn affidavit that sets out the full story is often the way forward.
You bought from Facebook Marketplace, Kijiji, AutoTrader or a friend of a friend. It was a cash or e-Transfer deal and nobody wrote up a bill of sale.
The seller blocked you, changed numbers or keeps promising to “sort it out.” You have the vehicle and the keys, but you can’t get the signed paperwork you need.
The bill of sale was lost, damaged or never had the price on it. Or the back of the ownership was signed but left mostly blank.
You tried to register the vehicle and were told the chain of ownership is incomplete, or that you need an affidavit before they can process the transfer.
Utility trailers, boat trailers, motorcycles, ATVs, pickups, cars and other vehicles registered with ServiceOntario. Old trailers often change hands with no paperwork at all.
The person you paid isn’t the name on the ownership, for example they bought it at auction and never registered it. We record exactly what you know and what you were told.
One flat drafting fee, optional exhibits, and a discount when you swear it with us.
We interview you, draft a complete, ServiceOntario-ready affidavit for the vehicle purchase, and review it with you before it’s sworn.
Want stronger proof? Attach your e-Transfer record, screenshots of the ad and messages, the vehicle permit or receipts as exhibits to your affidavit.
Swear your affidavit with Canada Notary, online by video or in person at any of our offices, and save 15% on the commissioning fee.
All prices plus HST. One discount or promotion per visit. ServiceOntario fees, retail sales tax, safety certificates and plates are separate and paid to ServiceOntario or the provider.
Book online, call, WhatsApp or email us. Share what you have: the ownership, payment proof, screenshots and anything else.
We go through a detailed checklist (vehicle, seller, payment, timeline) so nothing important is missing.
You get a clear, detailed affidavit to review. Add exhibits if you want extra proof.
Swear it online by video or at any of our offices, with 15% off. Then take it to ServiceOntario with your documents.
A strong affidavit is a detailed one. These are the questions we go through with every client, based on real files we’ve completed. Have these answers ready and we can finish faster.
Every affidavit we prepare tells the full story in numbered paragraphs: who you are, a complete description of the vehicle, how and where you bought it, exactly how the money changed hands, what the seller gave you and said, and what happened at ServiceOntario. It ends with clear statements that you bought the vehicle in good faith, for value, at arm’s length.
We also follow one firm rule: you only swear to what you actually know. If you didn’t see the ownership being signed, the affidavit says so. That keeps it honest and believable.
