Frequently asked questions

Is a commissioner of oaths the same as a notary?

Not quite. Every notary in Ontario is also a commissioner, but commissioners can't certify true copies or notarize documents for use outside Ontario. Our staff can do both.

Can you help me write my affidavit?

We can format and prepare simple affidavits and declarations from the facts you give us. We can't give legal advice about what it should say.

Do both people need to attend?

Each person swearing or declaring must appear in person (or by video where permitted) with ID.
