Certified Interpretation Services: Court, Legal & Immigration

Do you require professional Certified Interpretation Services for a court hearing, immigration interview, or medical appointment? Clear communication is the foundation of justice and healthcare. However, a simple misunderstanding can lead to a rejected application or a lost case. Therefore, relying on a friend or family member is rarely enough—you need an accredited professional.

At Canada Notary, we provide expert Certified Interpretation Services in over 50 languages. Since our interpreters are accredited by the Ministry of the Attorney General (MAG) and recognized by IRCC, you can speak with confidence knowing your message is being conveyed accurately.

Types of Certified Interpretation Services We Offer

Specifically, we specialize in high-stakes environments where accuracy is legally required. For instance, our core Certified Interpretation Services include:

When appearing in the Ontario Court of Justice or attending a deposition, the interpreter must be accredited. Our team understands courtroom protocol, ensuring your testimony is officially recognized.

Are you applying for refugee status or permanent residency? Importantly, the government requires impartial communication. We provide Certified Interpretation Services for:

  • Citizenship Interviews

  • Refugee Hearings (IRB)

  • POE (Port of Entry) Examinations

Furthermore, in medical settings, clarity saves lives. Our medical interpreters translate complex diagnoses and treatment plans between doctors and patients, ensuring informed consent is truly “informed.”

Modes of Interpretation

To serve you better, we offer flexible formats to match your specific needs:

1

In-Person Interpretation

The interpreter travels to your location (Office, Court, Hospital). Best for legal hearings.

Video Remote Interpretation (VRI)

2

Instant connection via Zoom, Teams, or Webex. Best for immigration interviews and business meetings.

3

Over-the-Phone Interpretation (OPI)

Immediate assistance for short calls. Best for quick inquiries.

How to Book an Interpreter

Ready to proceed? Booking is simple:

  1. Request a Quote: First, fill out our Online Form with the date, time, language, and type of meeting (e.g., “Court Hearing”).

  2. Confirm Details: Next, we will match you with a subject-matter expert (e.g., a legal specialist for court cases).

  3. The Session: Finally, your interpreter joins you (in-person or virtually) to facilitate smooth, accurate communication.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Generally, no. For official hearings (like IRB refugee claims), the government requires an independent, accredited interpreter to ensure impartiality. Using a family member may lead to your case being adjourned or rejected.

A Certified Interpreter has passed rigorous exams from a regulatory body (like ATIO or MAG). A Qualified Interpreter is a professional with proven experience but may not hold a specific certification. For court, you typically need Certified. For business, Qualified is often sufficient.

Yes. We have a network of Over-the-Phone interpreters available 24/7 for urgent matters. However, for in-person legal bookings, we recommend scheduling at least 48 hours in advance.

Our billing is flexible. Usually, we book a minimum block (e.g., 2 hours). If the session runs over, we simply bill the additional time in 15-minute increments.
